Jean-Baptiste Grenouille was born in summer 1738 amid the stinking squalor of Paris. At the same day, he was abandoned by his mother. He had no human-scent, thus people disliked him albeit they couldn't say why. As he grew up he was slow in learning language, but he discovered his extraordinary sense of smell which was more powerful than any other human's. He was able to capture and memorize his surroundings olfactory. Soon, he learned how to create odour by mixing some. Then he made perfumes, soap, powders, scented candles, pastilles, frankincenses, etc. Nevertheless, he wanted more. It's not the ordinary fragrance he wanted to create, rather, a special kind of scent that would make people worship him. In order to create such scent, he needed the odours from a special kind of woman, and he attempted crimes to get it.

Setuju ya, sebenarnya motivasi itu hanya muncul dari dalam diri. Ketika ada imbalan, adalah sifat rakus sendiri yang menyuruh manusia menyelesaikan pekerjaan. Ketika ada ancaman, rasa takut dari dalam menggerakkan manusia. Sedikit banyaknya imbalan atau ancaman itu cuma pilihan yang manusia sendiri menentukan mau atau tidak.

Beberapa kisah dibalik layar membuktikan kesiapan mental yang prima sangat berperan besar terutama pada pertandingan final. Kisah di Estadio Olimpico Roma, 27 Mei 2009 adalah salah satunya.

Beberapa saat menjelang kick-off Final Liga Champions 2008-09, Pep Guardiola menghampiri pelatih fisik timnya Paco Seirullo dan meminta menghentikan sesi pemanasan Carles Puyol dkk. “Paco, kita hanya punya waktu 10 menit. Tapi saya hanya butuh tujuh menit saja.”

Guardiola lalu meminta para pemainnya segera kembali ke ruang ganti. Disana telah terpampang sebuah layar dan projector yang diam-diam telah dipersiapkan oleh staf teknisnya. Guardiola lalu mematikan lampu dan menekan tombol play.

Seketika itu dihadapan para pemain tersaji cuplikan film peraih Oscar, Gladiator. Semua pemain tak terkecuali Dani Alves dan Eric Abidal yang terkena akumulasi kartu juga turut hadir. Semua diam dan menyimak klip film itu.

Siapa itu Rhea? Rhea adalah Dewi kesuburan, atau biasa dipanggil ibu para dewa dalam mitologi Yunani kuno. Ia biasa digambarkan dalam bulan atau angsa sebagai simbol kelembutannya. Menurut cerita, Rhea memiliki anak-anak yang bakal menjadi penguasa Olimpus seperti Zeus, Hades, dll. Anak-anak tersebut diramalkan akan mengudeta kekuasaan bapak mereka sendiri, Kronos. Kronos pun khawatir akan ancaman tersebut sehingga memakan anak-anaknya sendiri. Akan tetapi pada kelahiran putra keenam, Zeus, Rhea telah melarikan diri ke Pulau Kreta untuk menyelamatkan nyawa Zeus. Zeus diasingkan di sana dan diasuh menurut beberapa versi. Ketika menginjak dewasa, ramalan yang disebutkan sebelumnya terjadi, Zeus berhasil memaksa ayahnya menyerahkan kekuasaan -- Kok malah cerita tentang dewa Yunani ini?
