Jean-Baptiste Grenouille was born in summer 1738 amid the stinking squalor of Paris. At the same day, he was abandoned by his mother. He had no human-scent, thus people disliked him albeit they couldn't say why. As he grew up he was slow in learning language, but he discovered his extraordinary sense of smell which was more powerful than any other human's. He was able to capture and memorize his surroundings olfactory. Soon, he learned how to create odour by mixing some. Then he made perfumes, soap, powders, scented candles, pastilles, frankincenses, etc. Nevertheless, he wanted more. It's not the ordinary fragrance he wanted to create, rather, a special kind of scent that would make people worship him. In order to create such scent, he needed the odours from a special kind of woman, and he attempted crimes to get it.
